IN the England Athletics Championships at Sportcity Jade Smith took to a very wet and windy track, competing in the Para Athletics 1500m.

After a quick start Smith continued to run well in second place, but over the final 400m had an exciting battle with the Southend on Sea, before pulling away to secure second with a 5 second PB of 5:14 which ranks her 6th in the world for T13 Classification.

A host of St. Helens Sutton A.C. athletes headed to Trafford, first up the 3000m where Matt Crehan finished 3rd in 8:42 and Tom Griffiths 6th in 9:14.

In the 800m Tom Upton ran a new PB of 2:08 to finish 2nd and Amy Corfield just missed breaking her PB with 2:35 followed by Smith in 2:38. In the 1500m Dave Twigg ran 4:14 after trying to waken up a slow starting race. And Crehan in race 2 finished first in 4:07.

St Helens Sutton A.C. team won the Horrick Hill Race with Jon-Jo Doherty 1st followed by Griffiths, 2nd Ste Anders 7th. Doherty and Griffiths went one-two again on Friday at Knowsley’s Fab 4 series with Chris Birkett in 12th. While in the kids mile race Bobby Birkett had a battle for the win, finishing second just seconds behind the winner, he was followed home by Harry Griffiths (5th), Lilly Birkett 5th Girl (11th) and Charlie Griffiths (19th).
