THERE was an impressive run by rising talent Charlie Roberts as he led out a British Milers Club 800m race at Trafford.

He took out a convincing win and putting down a time which was not only a big personal best but put him 5th in the UK rankings for 2019, as a first year U17 and broke St. Helens Sutton’s U17 800m record by over a second, which was previously held by international athlete Dave Forrester, with a time of 1:54.43.

Also racing at Trafford was David Twigg who ran 2:02 and Jon-Jo Doherty making his 1500m track debut, with a win in the second heat, with a time of 4:15.88.

Wednesday then saw Twigg back in action at the Manchester Mile alongside Tom Griffiths who is returning from injury.

In the final race of the evening both Sutton runners pushed for main positions with Griffiths finishing 4th in 4:38.26 and Twigg in 6th 4:40.71.

Sunday rounded out the week with another win for Doherty as he took a convincing win over at the Penny Lane Striders 10k in tough windy conditions with a time of 34:11.
