IT is crunch time for Haydock in their bid for a league and cup double.

Haydock, who finished well down the ladder last season and are already winners of the Jubilee Cup this campaign, would be crowned Warrington and District League Premier Division champions on Saturday if they avoid defeat at second-placed Parklands.

They are currently four points clear of the Widnes outfit, who have a game in hand in what is a thrilling conclusion to the campaign.

However, a win for Parklands on Saturday would then leave them needing at least a draw at Avon Villa on Tuesday to retain the title.

Haydock already have two wins in the bag this season against Parklands, who are also chasing a double having won the Guardian Cup.

Parklands lost 2-1 at Haydock in the first league encounter and then 1-0 in the final of the Jubilee Cup.

Now Haydock have to secure at least a draw on Parklands turf to put the icing on a wonderful season.

When the sides last met in the Jubilee Cup decider at Fords Sports and Social Club earlier this month, the only goal was scored by Stuart McDonald, who turned and fired home from the edge of the box.

It was a blood and thunder contest with Parklands enjoying the better chances before McDonald broke the deadlock in the 29th minute.

The crossbar came to Haydock’s rescue in the 67th minute when Parklands skipper Warren Bellew went close with a curling effort.
