SAINTS half back Jonny Lomax produced another outstanding effort on both sides of the ball in Sunday’s win at Hull KR.

Although it was not rewarded with any Steve Prescott Man of Steel points, it did get a massive pat on the back from coach Justin Holbrook.

It follows on from some top-drawer efforts this past month.

Holbrook said: “Jonny deserves massive credit for Sunday’s performance.

“A few week’s ago we saw him destroy Hull FC single-handedly with the ball.

“But for people who did not watch the game, his efforts defensively are what won us the game at Rovers.

“He really stepped it up, not to just do his fair share, but he was going to cover other people on a few occasions.

“I have seen Jonny’s determination right from the start this year.

“And he is real team orientated this year more than I have ever seen. And he is willing to do whatever it takes for the team this year.

“And that shows with the way he is playing – it is so clear.

“He is a pleasure to have in our side.

“For the amount of work he did off the ball and defensively, not a lot of halves can do that.

"They will want the ball in their hands and make a difference in attack, which Jonny does. But to do the same in defence takes some doing.

“He showed a way to defend a way to victory, when a lot of other boys were off in that area.”
