It was a big weekend of running for St. Helens Sutton A.C. and the town.

Saturday saw a trio of Sutton athletes represent Merseyside at the UK Intercounties incorporating the World Cross Country Trials. Charlie Roberts had a great run finishing as first counter for the team in 21:02 with Michael Brussels in 24:19 finishing 6th man for the Merseyside team, over the challenging course in the U17 Men’s race. While Jade Smith being called up as a reserve for the team had a fantastic run over what was an 11km course in 48:32 to finish 5th for the Merseyside team and count as one of the six scoring counters out of the team of 8.

Sunday saw the strong winds continue but that didn’t stop a host of St. Helens Sutton A.C. athletes from hitting the roads. At home at the St. Helens 10k, Matt Crehan retained his title from last year, followed home by Will Beesley (14), Leon Hill (21) in a new PB of 38:42, Matt Blake (34) also with a new PB of 39:41, Chris Taylor (38), Jade Smith then doing a double race weekend smashed her PB by over 3 mintutes with 41:07 and took the 3rd lady spot. Next back was Barry Graney (70), Martin Johnson (218), Chris Coatsworth (224), Rachel Wilcox (226), Rachel Beesley (227), Ian White (536), Ste Pickavance (950), Daniel Holcroft (953), Chris Paton (996), Jane Ashcroft (1141), Chloe Dowdle (1153) and Louise Hill (1614).

And over in Liverpool a couple runners braved the waterfront in the Liverpool Landmarks 10 miler, first back was Neil Lowe (71), followed by Janet Holmes (322) and Jane Makin (463). While over at the Trafford 10km Tom Griffiths struggled with a pulled calf but still managed to put in a great time of 32:08.
