A GREAT week for St. Helens Sutton A.C. and even more so for one particular athlete, Tom Griffiths. Saturday saw the 49th running of the classic and brutal Parbold Hill Race and Griffiths was in suburb form to secure the win with over a minute lead, from training partner Jon-Jo Doherty.
While Sunday saw the 116th Liverpool & District Cross Country Championships take place, with a great turn out from Sutton’s seniors, and though they weren’t in as strong a shape as the previous year to retain their championship title the team clenched the bronze medal. But it was Griffiths again who stole the show with a demanding lead over the field to become the 116th Champion of this stoic event.
Next back for the club was Matt Crehan, followed by Ste Anders, David Twigg, Andrew Wilson, Greg Williams, Matt Blake, Amy Corfield and Jade Smith.
