DEAN Golba spent many years in motor racing before joining St Helens Tri but has enjoyed a meteoric rise and recorded his biggest result to date last Friday at Ironman 70.3 Dubai.
He overcame a choppy swim to complete the 56-mile bike course in an astounding 2hr8, the second fastest M30-34 bike split of the day, and his final time of 4:31:23 placed him in the top 30 in his age group and the top 200 overall.
Mark Turner ran the Aintree 10k on Sunday and edged a close battle for second place as he clocked an astounding 35:09.
Meanwhile Caroline Stalker, who received news of her team GB place from the Ashbridge Duathlon 24 hours earlier, made it a double celebration by finishing as first female in the 5k race, recording a time of 21:23.
