IN terrible weather conditions, St Helens Town slumped to another heavy home defeat - losing 6-2 to Bacup Borough.

In the first half were unrecognisable from their form of late.

Icy winds and driving rain were evident virtually throughout and Town opened with the elements at their backs and saw Diggle and Presho go close with low drives.

In their first attack of note Bacup went ahead on 12 minutes with Wilmore the scorer.

Bacup were on the rise and two goals in three minutes put them firmly in charge.

On 36 minutes Town got a lifeline when Weaver fired home from 18 yards but conceded again when Wilmore had a tap-in.

Within four minutes of the resumption they went 5-1 down through a superb solo goal from Dell .

To their credit after substitutions, Town finished well and Diggle added a consolation when his low cross shot crept in at the far post which was fitting reward for the effort he had put in throughout.

Town’s Christmas programme takes them to AFC Darwen on Saturday 22 December and then away again at Ashton Town on Boxing Day before Chadderton come to Ruskin on 29 December, all 3pm.
