BLACKBROOK Royals have a long and proud history of success on the rugby league field - and that is embodied by Saints' long-serving skipper James Roby.
But the link between the Boardmans Lane club and the Saints is not a new thing as this picture shows.
The flares give away the decade in this picture, with the delight on the faces as they are presented with their awards by two rugby league internationals.
This picture, taken in the late 1970s outside the long-gone Princess Royal on Park Road, Blackbrook, captures the squad being joined by leading Saints personalities Dave Chisnall and Les Jones.
Prop forward Chissy, who was one of three rugby league playing brothers, had a long career in rugby league played at Saints between 1977-79.
Wingman Jones had a remarkably long career at Knowsley Road scoring 283 tries from 485 appearances between 1966-81.
The squad of youngsters includes one player who went on to win trophies at Saints.
Can you identify him?
