BILLINGE suffered a heartbreaking 3-1 defeat to Cheshire League Premier Division leaders Altrincham Reserves on Saturday as they succumbed to two late, late goals.

With the score standing at 1-1, after a Shaun Brady equaliser, Altrincham snatched the win with a goal on 88 minutes and then another with the last kick of the game.

The result however all hinged on two incidents in the 77th and 78th minute.

The Storks captain Chris Cottington had his spot shot brilliantly saved by Andrew Jones. and then Billinge were down to ten men as Ryan Platt received a second yellow card for what looked an innocuous tackle.

The two incidents seemed to give the visitors a spur of energy to go on to snatch victory.

The defeat keeps Altrincham at the top of the division with The Storks dropping one place to fourth.
