NEWTON stuck to their game plan, good basic rugby and they dominated Prenton from the kick off to win 33-17.

With Newton dominating scrums and line-outs they starved Prenton of possession.

This is the most confident Newton have looked all season and their defence held fast.

Prenton were gifted a try under the sticks to peg the half time score to 14-10.

Newton, with the wind behind them, scored three tries to Prenton’s one.

It was basic rugby again that won this game.

Newton’s tries came from Jonathon McGarvey, Chris Robinson, Danny Reilly, Mike Hallet and James Jones.

Andy McKenna kicked three conversions while Kyle Carter kicked one.

The Dootson Solicotors man of the match went to Tom Boughey for an outstanding performance while deputising at scrum half.
