THATTO Heath’s Jack Jones was among the scorers for the BARLA Lions tourists in Tuesday’s 28-20 loss to Australian Affiliated States in Fiji.
The stand-off scored the second of three Lions tries, helping his side to a 20-18 lead going into the final few minutes but the Australians sneaked home.
Clubmate Andy Lea featured off the bench, while Haydock’s Jordan Gibson was at left centre in a match delayed to a later start for player welfare reasons in the humid conditions.
The defeat means the tourists must defeat Fiji Bati Residents on Friday to stand a chance of winning the International Tri-Series.
Last Thursday the BARLA Lions, again featuring Lea, Jones and Gibson, came from behind to claim a 22-20 victory in their first game of the tour against West Fiji.
BARLA emerged victorious thanks to a try by York Acorn’s Reece Rushworth.
