LAST weekend saw the opening game of a newly formed Ladies rugby team at West Park RFC, known at The Foxes.
The team is in addition to the already vibrant girls teams already playing at the club.
The fixture against Aldwinians (Manchester) was played in excellent spirit and with no little skill, and provided a well earned 39-8 victory for The Foxes.
Laura Latham had the distinction of scoring West Park’s first ever try, closely followed by another from Kellie Powell after good work from Kia Doyle, who went on to later score two tries herself, as also did Casey Naylor.
The team’s founder Lynn Doyle converted three of the six tries to seal a notable victory.
The Foxes are looking for further recruits, aged 17 years and above to join their training programme each Wednesday from 8pm at the club.
