IT was yet another excellent day of competition for St Helens Tri Club members at the Manchester Cross Country League last Saturday.
At round two in Bagley the returning Claire Murphy led the team home by example, finishing in just over 32 minutes.
But the main story was that of debutant Carole Clive, who finished less than a minute behind and edged out current series points leader Cheryl Pace for second club counter home.
Michael Forber and Colin Dobbs were the first two men home in the second race while a much improved David Isaac ran the pair close throughout.
Meanwhile Lee Stinch was tackling his final ultra run of the year at the Warrington Way 40.
And he was pleased to record a time of 6:45:04, over 40 minutes quicker than in 2017, and Keith Ashcroft clocked 58:12 at the Arley Hall 10k.
