PILKINGTONS navigated through to the last eight of the Liverpool County FA Challenge Cup with a 1-0 win over a resolute FC Pilchy.

Playing at the Arcoframe Stadium for the first time since September Pilks settled in well and went close after 20 minutes.

A good cross by Matty Taylor found Luke Sephton at the back post but his header went wide.

A tough battle was breaking out in midfield and Deklan Hill, lucky to still be on the pitch after what looked like a two-footed challenge, went close himself with a 25 yard shot on 35 minutes.

Just before the break Pilks took the lead.

Mason Ryan overlapped down the left and put in a great cross that Sephton met to see the ball fly into the top corner.

The second half was pretty even with little chances for both sides. Sephton with Pilks only clear chance when was unlucky not to get onto Chris Luby’s flick on.

FC Pilchy started to pile the pressure on towards the end of the game but PIlks defence stood firm and as the game closed out, young Sammy Tickle pulled off a great double save from a free kick on the edge of the box.

Pilks had the ball in the net again in the final minutes but it was disallowed.

This was a tough encounter for Pilks who now face AFC Liverpool Reserves in the quarter finals.
