LIVERPOOL St Helens' improved form continued in the ADM Premier Division as they overhauled Aldwinians 40-19.

They shone particularly in the first half, so much so that the game was effectively settled after 20 minutes.

By that time the Moss Laners had not only established a commanding lead, but had already earned a bonus point for the fourth try.

In recent weeks a number of the younger players have made major contributions to the recent good run.

It bodes well for the future that they are now complementing the more experienced players.

Saturday provided the perfect example of this with Dave Cunliffe having another storming game, leading from the front with Alex McClurg controlling all aspects of LSH’s play.

Both however were overshadowed on the day by young Chris Hull who was simply outstanding.

The first try came after just three minutes and was scored by Josh Lynch outpacing everyone when sprinting 50 yards down the right wing.

That effort was made possible by quick ball from Dave and Matt Cunliffe.

The second try was scored by Mark Potter, latching on to the ball after a quick penalty, and the third saw winger Lee Holland tackled inches from the line after an 80 yard run, only to find young Sam Ward following up to pick up and touch down.

The fourth, after 19 minute,s was an excellent solo effort from midfield by Alex McClurg.

All four were well converted by full back Jamie Morris for a convincing 28-0 lead.

The remainder of the game was a much more even affair with Aldwinians pulling one back just before the break and Morris, now playing like a veteran, scoring two more tries for LSH and converting one.

Aldwinians, now recovered from being on the receiving end of the earlier try blitz, showed what they were capable of with two tries of their own.

However, they were left to rue a dominant period of theirs in the last 15 minutes or so of the first half when they could have had two or three scores.

That they didn’t was due primarily to the strength of the LSH defence.
