PAUL Carden says FC Halifax Town did not deserve to escape from their FA Cup fourth qualifying round clash with his Warrington Town side with a draw.

Yellows dominated at Cantilever Park, but Matty Kosylo’s equaliser ensured the Shaymen will get the chance of a replay on Tuesday night.

Yellows' FA Cup draw with Halifax as it happened

Both sides will be in Monday’s draw for the first round, but Carden insists his side should be in it outright.

“It does feel like an opportunity missed, but it’s also the chance to play them again,” he said.

“We outplayed and out-battled them, but we’ve had two lapses of concentration for their goals.

“Anybody who came to watch today has seen what we’re about and how we can play.

“When we move the ball, we’re a good side. We were the better team for the whole game.

“They scored early on but we responded in the right way.

“We’ve had many more chances and better chances than them, but we’ll go now and do it the hard way.

“We’re still in the hat. That’s what we wanted to be before the first whistle.

“They didn’t deserve a draw, but we have to make sure it wasn’t just a one-off from us and do it in the replay.”

Halifax had taken an early lead through Nathan Clarke’s header, but Ben Garrity and Tony Gray turned the game on its head and put Town on the verge of a place in the first round for only the second time in their history.

However, a mistake from Yellows skipper Mark Roberts allowed Kosylo in to equalise.

“It will eat at Robbo. He knows he’s made a mistake,” Carden said.

“He’s switched off for a split second and he’s been punished. That’s what happens when you play teams from higher up.

“They punish your mistakes and that’s what they did on both goals.

“Our two goals were outstanding pieces of football.

“The first goal must have been 11 or 12 passes and it was a great flowing move for Tony’s goal.

“We’re disappointed, but it’s another opportunity for us to go and play a good side and give a good account of ourselves.

“We will enjoy playing there because the pitch is like a bowling green.”
