BEN Murdoch-Masila will undergo minor surgery on his ankle next week, Warrington Wolves head coach Steve Price has confirmed.

The second-rower will go under the knife next Wednesday, after he has played for Tonga in their Test match against Australia in Auckland on Saturday.

Murdoch-Masila is expected to be back in time to be part of The Wire’s pre-season preparations and at present, he is the only Wire player who has surgery booked in.

“Ben Murdoch-Masila just needs a bit of a tidy-up on his ankle. He’s been carrying that for a while,” Price said.

“He’s playing in the Tonga test on Saturday. He really wanted to be a part of that so he’ll be going in Wednesday.”

Price also confirmed the players who are not on international duty – including new signings Blake Austin, Jason Clark, Lama Tasi and Matt Davis – will report back for pre-season training on Monday, November 19.

Pre-season will follow a similar format to this year, with the players heading on a pre-Christmas army camp before a training camp in January.
