Lymm 36 Kendal 19

ADAM Fletcher highlighted an improvement at the set-piece as a major factor in his Lymm side recording back-to-back victories.

They recovered from a slow start to see off Kendal at Crouchley Lane, sealing a bonus point in the process thanks to first-half tries from Dan Horton, Zak Lythgoe, Cash Chilvers and Aaron Rasheed.

Luke Richards crossed after the interval, with full-back Cormac Nolan adding four conversions and a penalty to the total.

“It was a great five-point win for us,” Fletcher commented.

“I’m really pleased with the improvement in the set piece and the way we managed possession and territory.”

Kendal opened the scoring in the third minute, but Lymm hit back with a number of phases that led to Oli Higginson sending the supporting Horton over.

Once again, the visitors took the lead after the hosts made a mistake at the restart, but Lythgoe crossed after Andy Davies was tackle just short to give Fletcher’s men a lead they would never relinquish.

As the half was ended, Lymm found an extra gear and managed to secure their bonus point.

From Chilvers’ well-aimed lineout, the hosts’ rolling maul set off for the try line and Chilvers was at the back of it to finish what he started by touching down.

Lymm then stole a lineout close to the Kendal line and a spell of pressure resulted in Rasheed going over from close range to finish the half in style.

The first score of the second half went to the hosts as Richards took a fine miss-out pass from Tom Shard and burst past several tackles to take the score to 33-12.

Kendal were able to score a long-range effort, but Nolan's late penalty completed the scoring.

Fletcher’s men face a tough trip to Kirkby Lonsdale on Saturday.
