JC's ABC host sell-out boxing show at Sidac

An excellent 16-bout bill, featured boxers from across the North West, with fighters travelling from as far afield as Clwyd ABC in Wales.

JC's ABC based on Jackson St, St Helens had fighters in all 16 contests. The first three bouts were skills contests with no determinate winners.

In the skills events there were two all female clashes were Louisa Tunstall took on Leah Telford from local Wildcard ABC in Parr. Jasmine Davis meanwhile exhibited her skills confidently against Amelia York from Technique ABC in Blackburn. Corey Fletcher also showed great potential in his skills contest against Theo Lloyd from the Jimmy Egan's gym based in Wythenshaw, Manchester.

The next 13 contests were judged from ringside within an atmospheric cauldron, and one could feel the intensity as the night progressed.

JC's successfully won six of the 13 bouts, many of which were just too close to call.

Carl Grimley was the first to open up the deadlock with a superb victory over Byron McDonagh from Murray Machines gym in Stockport.

Tyrone Price and Daniel Abel were also victors for JC's whom were now on a roll! Josh Paladino also held out for JC's in a nip and tuck affair gaining the nod from the judges against Runcorn ABC's Alfie Nixon.

JC's Tom Wilburn secured the prestigious boxer of the night award, with a sublime exhibition of skill and fortitude defeating Welsh Champion Rocky Wilson from Clwyd ABC.

And in the final bout local favourite Alan Johnson, who had already won the previous week secured a decisive victory to a tumultuous applause!

The night proved to be a massive success which gave St Helens' boxers another opportunity to box in front of family and friends. The club train 6 days a week were anyone aged 10 and above is welcome to train, learn to box, or just keep fit.

Coaches Ste Birch, Gary Ormrod, Melissa Kenny and Chris Firth are all involved at JC's which is a 'not for profit' boxing gym.
