ST HELENS Tri enjoyed a very successful tri to Cheshire for the Oulton Park Autumn Duathlons.
In the sprint distance Mark Ashton led the club home in a time of 1:10:41.
Sarah Taktak placed second in her category and there were top-5 division results for Shirley Fox and Garry Banks. Mark Turner rounded off an exceptional season by taking third in the M25-29 category in the standard distance race while Terry Bates placed second in his division just eight seconds behind the winner.
Derek Ireland made a heartening comeback to racing at the club he has been part of for over a decade, beating the three-hour mark and placing sixth in his category.
Dean Golba has been arguably the club’s most improved triathlete in 2018 and took 5th place and his age group at the Nantwich Triathlon while Lee Stinch finished in the top 20 at the Monster Trail Ultra in Ely, completing the course in under seven hours.
