JUSTIN Holbrook took time out to speak with the Star’s Mike Critchley to reflect on the Warrington game.

MC: What pleased you about that performance?

JH: It was always going to be an awkward game going into it. Once we got out on to the field I was really happy with the way the boys played.

I said before the game that whatever happened on Saturday won’t matter in two weeks’ time and I still say that.

But I also said that once players get on the field they are competitive and want to win. We went about it in a smart fashion - Louie, Kyle and Robes could have all played, but that was the option we took.

Once the players got out there they defended well and scored some good tries.

MC: Does it give you any pointers for the semi-final next week?

JH: The reason I am keeping it in context is that their halves did not play the second half and their best player Daryl Clark did not play at all. While we beat them convincingly they will not be too worried by it because they have got that reason in the back of their heads that their best players did not play. I don’t think it will matter in two weeks.

MC: Any issues with any of the incidents on Saturday?

JH: No it is just a tough game and things escalated out of control that should not have. That is just a feeling between the players and I am expecting them to do that again in two weeks. That is fine.

MC: Good stint from young fellas but a strong lead from the experienced players Luke Douglas and Jon Wilkin.

JH: The young guys were fantastic and played big minutes, But Luke Douglas played big minutes too. It was a good mix with what we had out there and how they played.

It is h best he has played for us. He was outstanding and even got over the try line.

MC: After 16 seasons, how do you see Jon Wilkin’s contribution?

JH: Wilko has been fantastic, particularly over the past few weeks when we have had experienced blokes missing.

He has really stood up and played great. He has done all year, but in the past few weeks he has really stood up and been one of our best.

He is good loose forward with a mix to his game and has done well in that role this year.

I said from the start that in getting him away from being an 80 minute player we would see more quality. That is what has happened and we need that to continue this next few games.

MC: Regan Grace seems to be playing with a bit of confidence again.

JH: He is going really well - he is a great young guy. A good listener and learner who takes things on board from the coaches as well as the players around hin and that is great to have in our team. I thought he played really well.

MC: Friday's opponents Cas - runaway leaders last year - but they have been under the radar a bit.

JH: They are a very good team and you finish in third spot for a reason. The top four have been pretty clear for most of the season. They are one of the other three.
