ST Helens Tri have achieved much on the European stage over the past few months but they have rarely enjoyed success on the world stage.
This would all change however, as four members made the long trip to the Gold Coast Australia for the ITU World Finals.
In the sprint distance events Myka Heard placed 31st overall and was third GB lady home in her category while Steve Williams’ remarkable season on the world stage continued as he was 11th while finishing as second Brit in the M65-69.
Three days later Mark Turner recorded a top-50 placing in the M25-29 competition while Che Heard was 27th overall and third GB athlete at M20-24 level.
Closer to home, Garry Banks rounded off a season of continual improvement with second in his age category at the Kendal Triathlon, while Mark Eccleston ran brilliantly in the Warrington Half Marathon as his time of 1:45:23 gave him a new PB by12 minutes.
