ALTHOUGH disappointed to bow out in the first round of this Lancashire Trophy competition losing 18-10 to a strong Aldwinians side, West Park can take many positives from their performance in a contest that was only decided in the last few minutes of the game via a close range push-over try by the home side.
The visitors back line showed superior and excellent attacking enterprise, with wingers Houlton and try scorer Appleton plus full back Holland being particularly impressive throughout.
Neither was there any shortage of defensive effort throughout the team, and despite both on and off the field injuries, Park’s work ethic, team work and determination provided much promise for the season ahead.
West Park’s opening league fixture in the newly created Lancs County Rugby Union ADM Premier League is at Widnes on Saturday, kick off 3pm
