Clock Face Miners climbed back up to second place in the NCL division 3 table with an emphatic 86-0 win against the visiting Salford City Roosters on Thursday night. Clock’s young and pacey backs revelled in the dry and firm conditions, running in 15 tries.
It was Karle Hunt who led the way with four tries with Jack Highcock slotting over 13 conversions.
Clock had racked up 22 points by the half hour mark with tries for Luke Forber, Hunt, Chris Sheffield and Ian Honey.
It was at this point that Salford had their best spell in the match as they intercepted the ball and raced away twice, only to be brought down inches from the Clock line by the scrambling defence.
However, Clock quickly got themselves back into gear and scored a further two tries through Jamie Lucas and Ian Webster to take a 32-0 half time lead.
The second half pretty much continued as the first ended with Clock racking up the points. Hunt scored within the first minute of the restart following a Webster break.
The Salford heads dropped and the score rate increased with further tries for Hunt, Bryan Unsworth, Luke Leyden, Alex Burke and Lewis Geraghty.
