KELLY Hamilton was among the medals at the Merseyside Cross-Country Championship on Saturday.
Hamilton was the first St Helens Strider athlete to finish the women’s race.
Her seventh-place finish resulted in her picking up a medal for her efforts – for finishing as the first female from a club that had not won an individual or team prize.
Teammates Rachel Fairclough and Joanne Jackson also completed the event at Arrowe Park.
The Striders men’s team secured fifth in the county with impressive runs throughout the team.
James Allen was the first Strider to cross the line for the men’s team, finishing in 19th place.
He was followed in by Jon-Jo Doherty, Peter Fairclough, Richard Seville, Mark Riley, Paul Booth, Paul Brown, Brian Middleton and Mark Hamilton.
Sunday saw further success for Striders athletes.
David Navis competed in the Wirral Way Trail Half Marathon, which marked his first 13.1-mile effort since returning to running in August. He clocked 1hr 36mins 14secs.
Meanwhile, Rob Andrews competed in the Central Lancashire Half Marathon, marking his seventh consecutive day of running since the new year. His time, 1:45.38.
