FOR the first time this season Pilkington Recs showed composure to help them to a convincing 32-6 win over Skirlaugh in the NCL — only their third win of the season.
Early tries from Mark Ashton and Sam Molyneux, goaled by Greg Smith, gave Recs a 12-0 lead in the opening quarter.
Further scores from Jonathan Frodsham and Danny Lynch stretched that lead before Skirlaugh’s Matty Harling pegged it back to 22-6 at the break.
Skirlaugh raised their game in the second half until Frodsham’s second broke their resolve.
Alex McClurg’s try sealed a vital win which keeps them battling the drop from the Premier Division.
Greg Smith and Jon Frodsham were selected as the men of the match.
Recs have a tough fixture at Siddal coming up followed by Wigan St Pats and then Kells away.
