IT was a disappointing day for Billinge as they fell 2-1 to AFC Macclesfield in the Cheshire League 1.
Billinge started well and should have been ahead early on as Danny Hewitt broke one-on-one but his chipped effort was saved superbly by the keeper and Liam Bowden had a chance cleared off the line after a Chris Cottington free kick was parried.
AFC though broke the deadlock. A long range shot was saved expertly by Jay Scott but the rebound fell to Jay Burgess to smash home.
Hewitt dragged a shot wide in the opening minutes of the second half before AFC made it 2-0 with a wonder long range strike from Tom Bowey.
Jamie Anderson then tapped home from close range for Billinge to make it 2-1 and it was all Billinge from then on.
Billinge piled on the pressure and Ste Taylor hit the upright late but they could not find the equaliser
