THATTO Heath Crusaders A ran out convincing winners of the North West Men's League Cup Final on Saturday with a 28-0 victory over Ashton Bears in Warrington.

With the rain lashing down in the first half, errors were a plenty with the game remaining scoreless for the first 30 minutes of the game, before Dave Hull darted from dummy half to break the deadlock and Tom Rigby's conversion gave Heath a 6-0 lead at the break.

Five minutes into the second half Heath increased their lead to 10-0, when a superb cross-field kick was plucked out of the air by Darren Woods. In 55 minutes, fine play on the right edge from Jordan Wakefield was finished in the corner by Adam Walsh, Wakefield's conversion giving Heath a 16-0 lead.

The lead was increased further when when Tom Rigby's dummy bamboozled the Ashton defence; Wakefield's conversion gave Heath a 22-0. Captain Steven Woods then crashed over with 10 minutes to go and Wakefield's conversion completed the scoring, to give Heath a 28-0 win. Heath were truly outstanding from 1 to 13, but Man of the Match went to full back Ryan Heaton who was outstanding in defence and was a constant threat to the opposition in attack.

Victory in the NWML Cup Final is the first to be completed by any A' team in the competition's history and the Crusaders have eyes on a historic double with the NWML Premier Division Grand Final at Widnes in October still firmly in their sights.
