TABLE toppers Hunslet Club Parkside came up against a different Brook side to the one they put to the sword earlier in the season, going home 18-14 losers.

And it was clear from the start the host team were massively motivated for the battle.

Jordan Darwin scored an eighth-minute try to give Brook an early advantage and Craig Littler added another midway through the half, both converted by the radar boot of Aaron Hewitt.

Hunslet pulled a try back five minutes later through Kieran Murphy to reduce the arrears to 12-4.  Man of the match Scott Davidson broke clear and looked a likely scorer. However, a superb tackle from Omar Al Rawi kept the visitors' try line intact.  A late tackle on the stroke of half time gave Jamie Fields an opportunity to bring the scores closer. However his kick sailed just wide of the target.

Brook repelled wave after wave of attacks from the visitors but after four consecutive sets on the home line they found a way through.

Stand off Andrew Hullock scored between the posts, leaving Fields with an easy conversion to make it 12-10 with 20 minutes remaining.

Skipper Greg Hale restored Brook's lead five minutes later when he timed his run perfectly to latch on to a Stephen Marsh pass to score a game-breaking try following a Scott Davidson break. Arron Hewitt added the conversion.

Hunslet threw everything they could at Brook but could not find a way through the home side's committed defence until the last minute when winger Danny Harrison crossed.
