SAINTS boss Nathan Brown said the terrible injury to Luke Walsh meant the 44-22 win over Widnes was at some cost.
He did, however, try to stay positive despite Saints now losing Walsh, on top of other pivots Jonny Lomax, Lance Hohaia and saying the news on Jon Wilkin was not good.
Brown said: "That is the nature of the game. He did it making a tackle and it is either a compound leg fracture or a dislocated ankle.
“It was pointing the wrong way but we won’t know until he gets to hospital.”
Saints led 32-0 but then conceded three quick tries, which had some fans thinking back at the way the Bradford game had ended.
But Brown felt this game was different.
He said: “Jordan Turner and Mark Percival had good games on the whole, but both were responsible for poor reads for two of those tries.
“Apart from that I thought we played really well given what we had missing in key areas.
“For us to turn the game with our defence I was really proud of the guys.
“I thought JT and Wheels were super in the halves when Walshy went off.
“I thought we dominated them – we were great apart from a two-minute period where we had a lapse.”
Tommy Makinson capped a return to action with three tries, with Mose Masoe rumbling over for two.
