A 27-year-old man who handed himself in at Wolverhampton police station on Sunday night is being questioned on suspicion of murder.
Two men arrested in connection with the death have been bailed by police, while another suspect was freed and will face no further action.
Detective Inspector Jim Colclough from the force’s homicide team, said: “We are still in the early stages of our investigation and trying to get a clear understanding of how Richard died and all the events leading up to it.
“His family are devastated by his death and our thoughts remain with them all at this incredibly sad time.
“I need to get answers for them so I’m appealing for anyone who believes they may have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to get in touch with us.”
