IT’s hardly the biggest issue right now but surely it’s time to change the name of the Liverpool City Region.

When the Tier Three restrictions were imposed last week, people across the area were left asking if the rules applied to them – revealing they didn’t know what the Liverpool City Region is or where it covers.

And who can blame them?
The name sounds unfamiliar and bureaucratic. Very few people outside town halls understand it. In normal times, that’s undemocratic.

In a pandemic, it’s potentially dangerous.

When the crisis has calmed down, a new name should be found; one that is easily understood.
