IT is music to the ears for the disabled and the pedestrians of St Helens to read that the Government is now serious considering the parking on the pavements to be made illegal.
Buy anyone thinking that this is a possible solution to the ever increasing car ownership should think again.
A recent government think tank also suggested that the problem could be solved by simply restricting parking to one side of the road only.
On face value this idea has possibilities but it only raises the more serious question as to where the hundreds of cars removed from the opposite side of these roads will then go to park?
There is no ideal solution to this ongoing problem but if the narrowing of our roads continues then it goes without saying that more and more of our side roads will have to be designated as ONE WAY TRAFFIC ONLY.
