POEM titled, Mum and Dad

They’re sent to us as gifts from God,
To cherish all our lives.
They fill our days with happiness,
And make us burst with pride.
The love we feel towards them,
Unconditional and true!
The power there within them,
To break your heart in two.
With open minds we watch them,
And see them start to grow.
The path we lay before them,
And teach them all we know!
We set them on a journey,
We taught them right from wrong.
 We educate their minds
And help them become strong.
We want them to be happy,
We gave them all we could.
Those childhood days we cherish,
The way all parents should!
One day they’re going to leave us,
A new life – of their own.
An extension of their parents,
When they leave the family home.
When time stands there before us,
And legacies have past.
We’ll watch them from a distance,
Adults they are at last.
They’ll always need their parents,
To wipe away their tears.
To celebrate their happiness,
And quell their many fears.
We hope that they’ll remember,
All the happy times they had.
The gifts we gave so freely,
Because we’re Mum and Dad.
