I OFTEN visit Victoria Park and admire the flower beds at the North Road entrance. The gardeners do a wonderful display there several times a year.

At present they have cleared the flower beds in order to plant the summer bedding. That’s if they decide to do any planting this time!

I say that because just after the start of the pandemic when the spring bedding had been planted, some selfish people had stolen half the plants, leaving big gaps in the carefully thought out design.

As the garden centres were closed at this time, these thieves thought they had every right to steal the plants – maybe to enjoy them blooming in their own gardens or for a quick sale to others?

Now that the garden centres have reopened, hopefully the same thing won’t happen again and we can enjoy another spectacular sight as we enter Victoria Park, thanks to the council gardeners.
