I AM a nurse, wife, daughter and mother to four wonderful daughters aged seven, five, three and one years whilst also studying in my spare time.

The quarantine has provided me with the wonderful opportunity to see life for what it really is and I wanted to share this with others by writing a poem.

Jessica McBride-Roberts

Do not be frightened of this curse
God has put angels up on the earth
To protect us from the work of the devil
So in his misdeeds he cannot revel
Stay at home and reconnect with family
A blessing now daily instead of bi-annually
Talking, planning and playing games, in the house, garden and feeling the rain
Nature is around us keeping us alive
Always providing so we don’t need to strive
The beauty of the white fluffy clouds in the blue sky
The wonder of the new born birdies learning to fly
I never noticed the different greens in the trees
Nor the little creatures who dart amongst the leaves
The little grey squirrel sitting on the fence
I never saw this before as work was always my lens
The majestic birds singing songs to their mate
The music of creation helping me to wake
To me the most beautiful of all are my girls in them, compassion, fun, laughter & curls I feel blessed I have been given this time
To watch grow and bloom all that is mine I have a new appreciation, a brand new view
When the world returns to normal I will have something new
My lens has been changed to put life into focus
I always want to see the bird, the tree, the crocus
All of these wonders and so many more
That currently I admire through my glass doors
Safe in the knowledge that God protects us
By sending us angels in the form of doctors and nurses
