WHAT happened to Violet-Grace and her grandmother on Prescot Road was a terrible tragedy and should not be forgotten.

However, I fear no amount of signs, bollards and painted areas will stop some moron, high on drugs and drink, stealing a car and driving around town at 80 miles an hour.

The next tragedy on Prescot Road will happen near the Spar where the two bus stops are.

Some people don’t walk to the crossing, cross directly across the road here, quite often stopping on the chevrons to wait.

Lots of cars come speeding through the lights from the Prescot area trying to beat the line of traffic by driving down these chevrons.

There are also people who drive along the chevrons to turn into Roby Street.

I live nearby and see this many times. It is made worse at this time of year by the poor weather and visibility.
