Police stop 'stolen car' with stinger after Newton-le-Willows pursuit

FIVE suspects were detained after police used a stinger to stop a suspected stolen car. 

Police say the vehicle was pursued through Newton-le-Willows this morning, Friday, February 24 after it had failed to stop for a patrol.

Officers used a Stop Stick to bring the vehicle to a halt.

Five suspects were detained and police inquiries are ongoing.

In a statement, police said: "This stolen vehicle failed to stop for our patrol this morning, and was pursued through Newton-le-Willows.

"Stop Stick was deployed and the vehicle was brought to a safe stop.

"Five persons detained and enquiries are ongoing."
