CAN someone explain to me why St Helens town centre needs four pound shops, four card shops and at least five Chinese restaurants?
I am confident to say that this town is like a cartoon programme! Nobody wants to shop in St Helens. It wouldn’t surprise me if the old TJ Hughes building became another 99p store.
A few years ago it had been announced that the land opposite the Royal Mail department was going to be a ‘multi shopping arcade’ with a bowling alley… whatever happened to that I do not know. If you look on that land now it’s like looking through Delamere Forest.
From now on I will do all my shopping at Asda in St Helens, Tesco and Morrisons. If I need anything else I would be more than happy to travel to Wigan and other out of town retail parks.
St Helens town needs support… so why push people away?
