VETERAN racing driver Andy Middlehurst has achieved his lifelong dream of winning a grand prix at Monaco.
The St Helens garage boss took the spoils in the world of historic Formula One racing.
The Star has reported previously how Andy is back on the circuit, driving racing Jim Clark’s 1963 World Championship-winning Lotus 25.
Clark won seven grand prix in the car but never at Monaco.
Now Middlehurst, 49, who has been racing for more than 30 years, has steered it to victory after going one better than in 2010 when he was runner up.
In the past he has learned the bends of the testing street circuit by playing video games.
Andy qualified in pole position, and led into the first corner, winning by 10 seconds at the end of the 15 lap race.
He is due to film with Sky Sports F1 channel to celebrate 50 years since Lotus 25 won the British Grand Prix, at Aintree.
