Harry Tackle Spring League, Sankey Canal Upper pound, Round 9. Fourteen anglers took part in this round of the competition and Ray Bowden took the top slot with a bag of tench, bream and ides on long pole and caster at 16 metres with 14lbs-14ozs-0drm.

Second place went to Mick Rogers on peg 42, with a catch of bream, tench and ides again on long pole and caster for 11-0-0.

Third was Chris Greehan on peg 40, with ides and tench on long pole and casters for 10-3-0.

Fourth place went to Dave Lloyd on peg 50, with bream and tench for 9-15-0.

It makes for an exiting finish as any one of four could take this league with a win on Sunday, Ian Alexander, Dave Lloyd, Ray Bowden or John Cheetham.

The Disabled & Over Sixties weekly match, Thursday 1-6-06.

The match was fished on the upper pound on the Muckies section, Mick Collins took the winners position with a mixed bag on pole.

1st, Mick Collins, 6-10-0, 2nd, John Ormershire, 5-14-0, 3rd, Ray Bowden, 5-4-0, 4th, George Wilkinson 2-11-0.

Fishery news: The Yew Tree Reservoir is fishing well for silver fish, roach are providing good sport on maggot or casters fished on pole on the drop.

A good few nice skimmers to the pound mark off the bottom and double figure carp making for some very good fishing, tench and bream also showing.

The Vulcan Reservoir is fishing well for skimmers, roach, ides, tench and small f1 carp, pinky fished on pole at seven meters will mostly see you catching all day.

Haydock Park Farm, Cow Hay dam is as consistent as ever with sport quite brisk for good hybrids, roach, rudd, skimmers, perch and carp.

The lagoon is fishing well up in the water for roach and rudd or on the bottom for tench, bream and koi carp.

The Sankey Canal, Upper Pound the silver fish are all the way through this section and giving great sport, roach, rudd, ides and skimmers will keep your float going under along with quality fish such as tench and bream some huge carp are on offer here and a 30 pound fish is on the cards.

The lower pound is fishing quite well small carp to 7 or 8lbs along with bream, tench, eels. Skimmers, roach, rudd, ides and chub are all showing to maggot, caster etc. Both these sections are available on day ticket at £4 adult and £1.50 junior.

The members only section at Penkford bridge is fishing well for roach up in the water with tench, bream, brownies, perch, carp and kois.
