ON a low slow track at Burrows Lane, Sutton 1st XI won the toss and elected to set a target for Prescot and Odyssey to chase.

All of the Sutton top four were in the runs with Anders unlucky not to exceed his 57. Natalie Brown stepped into the breach for an 11th hour call up and played the cover drive of the day for as Sutton declared on 208 for 7.

The Prescot batting line up proved stubborn despite hostile opening spells from Frost and Jordan, who made a habit of knocking the wickets over from 'no ball' deliveries.

With only a couple of wickets down Tambe arrived at the crease with P&O looked confident of victory.

Good containing bowling whilst probing for wickets was the order of the day for Sutton and it nearly paid off.

Sadly, there were too few overs left and the game was drawn with P&O finishing on 158 for 7.

On Sunday the Kaufman Cup beckoned for Sutton and a trip to Alder in Liverpool. In a low scoring contest, Alder batted first and were bowled out for 95.

At one stage it looked as though Sutton had gone to sleep but they pulled it round to dismiss the home side for what looked a formality of a run chase.

Things started well for the visitors, the openers weathering the storm on a difficult batting surface, but as the wickets started to fall only Steve Wearden offered any grit and determination.

Alder were ecstatic when taking the final wicket to leave Sutton eight runs short of the total allowing Alder to progress to the next round.
