THE piece about former St Helens lad Trevor Kay and his yearning for hometown pies attracted the attention of a couple of our other ex-pats, Keith and Win Smith, who now live in Queensland, Australia.

They write: "We also made the journey back home last year and enjoyed our time there, sampling the pies we had so long remembered".

The couple, whose four grown-up kids live in Brisbane, as does Trevor, are now hoping to get in touch with him, explaining, "it would be good to contact someone from our hometown". They got, geographically, quite close to this in their local library last week when they bumped into a couple from Warrington.
