THE Star already told you, and now Tiny Tin Lady themselves have confirmed that they will be playing the Acoustic Stage at this year's Glastonbury Festival.

We reported last week that the fastest rising band on the acoustic scene, are set to play the world famous three-day music event in June.

And Bernie Forkin, manager of Tiny Tin Lady has confirmed that they will indeed be the first ever St Helens band to play at Glastonbury.

Bernie said, "I'm delighted we're going and all the more delighted that we didn't have to jump through the usual hoops.

"We didn't do the competition, we didn't play the fringe- we went in through the front door and were accepted onto the main stage. I think it's an indication of the impact the girls have had on the scene."

Tiny Tin Lady is Danni Gibbins (18), her sister Beth (13) and Helen Holmes (18). The band has come a long way since we first reported on them in 2003, the singing sensations making a big impression at venues like The Citadel and The Globe.

Since then TTL have gone from strength to strength, touring with Midge Ure, Jah Wobble, Fairport Convention, Eric Bogle, Carthy and Swarbrick and Dylan Project.

Last summer at Cropredy Festival, they impressed a 20,000 strong crowd that included singing legend Ralph McTell. He said, "One of the highlights of Cropredy 2004 was the performance of Tiny Tin Lady. These three girls showed huge potential and a respect for music that belied their tender years. They are absolutely great."

The band's combination of superb songs, intricate guitar work, rootsy bass and magical harmonies looks certain to make them a big hit with the Glastonbury crowd, on a stage that in previous years has welcomed Suzanne Vega, Love with Arthur Lee and The Hothouse Flowers.

Danni, singer/songwriter and guitarist with the band, said, "This is fantastic, the greatest news ever. I thought nothing could top Cropredy last year but this is just amazing."

Beth, who shares lead vocals with her sister, said, "It's brilliant, really great. I'd always wanted to go to Glastonbury, just as a ticket buyer, but to go and play for them will be beyond my wildest dreams."

Helen, who only joined the band in May 2004, added, "No musician can ask for more than a Glastonbury gig. It just doesn't get any better than this, it's what you dream of when you first pick up an instrument."

Tiny Tin Lady are currently recording their debut album, due for release this spring.

The band are planning a special hometown show in the near future to celebrate their Glastonbury appearance- watch this space for more details!
