RICKY Whittle has promised to come up with some “show stopping routines” in Saturday night’s final of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.

He vowed to produce the goods after describing winning through to the final as “the greatest night of his career”.

The Hollyoaks hunk, who has lived in the Moss Bank and Billinge areas in recent years, scored the highest overall marks in the semi-final with his Aussie dance partner Natalie Lowe.

But the biggest result for the 28-year-old came from the voting public, who got behind him following successive weeks in which he had to survive the ‘dance off’.

He will need similar backing this weekend against popular BBC Breakfast TV presenter Chris Hollins and his dance partner Ola Jordan.

Writing on his website after making the final, Ricky said it was “one of greatest nights I’ve ever had and definitely the greatest career wise.

“We knew it wasn’t enough to come top, that just helped, we needed support and this weekend when it mattered it came in abundance so thank you.

“To hear our names called out was a massive shock, will just make sure that we pay you back by coming up with four dances worthy of the final and not just good routines but showstopping winning routines!”

Ricky, was living with Hollyoaks co-star Carley Stenson, from St Helens, in Billinge but the couple split up in October.

The actor, who is regular visitor to the town and works out in a local gym, has seen his profile soar during the competition.
