THIS is the teenage vandal given a criminal anti-social behaviour because he damaged property.

John Mortimer, aged 17, from Upland Road, Grange Park, admitted before a court to causing criminal damage earlier this year.

Owing to the conviction, police worked in partnership with the crown prosecution service to apply for the order “with the aim of protecting the local community”.

A two-year CRASBO has subsequently been imposed by St Helens Magistrates’ Court and Mortimer could be jailed if he breaches the terms.

Among the conditions are that he must not hang about on the estate in which he lives.

Neighbourhood Inspector Tim Kelly said the court recognised that Mortimer “had been causing distress to local residents” and believes it “sends a strong message to regular offenders”.

The conditions of the order – which centre on the Grange Park and Portico communities - outlaw Mortimer from: Causing harassment, alarm or distress to any persons in St Helens Consuming alcohol or be drunk in a public place Having any opened containers of alcohol in a public place Being in the co-op late shop on Prescot Road Being with Sean Leyland, Dean Leyland, Paul Langley and Stephen Kelly in a public place in St Helens Being in the area bounded by including Prescot Road, Broadway, Upland Road, Cumberland Avenue and Scholes Lane, St Helens.

Except for the sole purpose of attending his home address which he must access by Main Avenue and turn left into Upland Road. He must not go further than his home at number 78.

He must not be on the roads named with the exception of Prescot Road and Scholes Lane.
