A DISQUALIFIED motorist who drove dangerously on the Rainford Bypass and failed to stop for police has avoided jail.
Adam Taylor, of Windle Hall Drive, Windlehurst, was sentenced at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 14, after admitting a string of road traffic offences following an incident on Sunday, August 23.
Taylor pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, and failing to stop for police.
He was handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, after the court ruled the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.
Court records state that Taylor had shown a “flagrant disregard for court orders,” had a history of serious driving offences, and held previous convictions.

However, the prison sentence was suspended due to an exemption under the Sentencing Act and the defendant being "a realistic prospect of rehabilitation".
Taylor, 28, was also banned from driving for three years and must pass an extended re-test before regaining his licence.
He was ordered to complete up to 35 days of rehabilitation activity as instructed by a responsible officer.
The offences took place on the Rainford Bypass, where Taylor was found to be driving a Peugeot E-Traveller dangerously and without insurance.
He was also driving while disqualified and failed to stop for a uniformed police officer.
Taylor pleaded guilty to all charges on August 24, and sentencing was adjourned to allow for a pre-sentence report.
Taylor was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
No separate penalties were imposed for driving without insurance or failing to stop for police.
