KNOWSLEY Council has undertaken work to remove 10 potentially dangerous trees from Whiston Woods.

Having purchased Whiston Woods from Forestry England in 2026 to expand Knowlsey Cemetery, the authority identified the trees as a safety risk for site users who frequent the informal walkway to the north.

The trees have been removed as part of the council’s regular maintenance schedule.

Due to the ongoing bird nesting season, the council conducted environmental checks before starting the work this week.

The work began on Monday this week, and and was completed within two days.

During this time, safety measures were implemented, with safety notices in place.

The council has confirmed the removal of the trees is essential to ensure the safety of the residents using the area.
