BIN collections in St Helens have been running behind schedule as crews work through hot weather conditions across the borough.
St Helens Borough Council has urged residents to remain patient, advising that collections may take longer than usual due to the high temperatures.
In a statement, the council said: “It’s another hot one. Collections are taking a little longer than usual due to the weather, but please continue to leave your containers out – we will reach you as soon as possible.”
The authority also said some residents may notice changes to how recyclables are collected.
Cardboard may be collected by a different vehicle this week due to the high volumes currently being put out, the council added.
“If you see your cardboard being collected by a normal bin lorry, don’t worry – it will still all be recycled.”
The update comes as amid high temperatures across the area, with the hot weather impacting services and leading to delays in routine collections.
Residents are being advised to leave bins and recycling containers out until they are emptied.
